Lab 1b: Body Cavities

PURPOSE:
To review the organizational pattern of the human body

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Locate and name the major cavities and identify the membranes associated with each cavity


PROCEDURE A: Body Cavities and Membranes
1. Review Cpt 1, pages 18-22, 98-100 in ‘Martini’ plus Internal Body Cavities pages of the website 

2. Define the vocabulary terms found in the Body Cavities list on the website.

3. Label figure 1.1 below and paste into your Lab Notebook

4. Draw the various body cavities into figure 1.2 of the body.  Label it. Be sure to color code the cavities.

5. Complete Parts A and B of the lab in your Lab Notebook

6. Using the manikins, identify the various body cavities as they are labeled.  For each cavity, name organs and membranes found in them. Title this part, “Manikin Cavities”.

7. Draw transverse sections of the following regions of the body and draw in the cavities that are found there and the associated membranes:

            skull/cranium; chest; abdomen

Use the manikins and skeletons as a reference as needed.
